
Born on June 28, 1948. In 1974 he graduated from the scriptwriting faculty of VGIK, having studied in the workshops of Paramonova and Fokina. Worked as a journalist. Made his debut as a screenwriter in 1978 (“Balamut”) and as a director in 1984 (“Sweet Juice Inside Grass”, together with A. Alpiev). Over 30 films have been shot to Bodrov’s screenplays, the most famous including “The Mechanic Gavrilov's Beloved Woman”, “Help Me, Brothers!” and “East-West”. His most renowned works as a director are “Non-Professionals”, “The Gambler”, “S.E.R — Freedom Is Paradise”, “White King, Red Queen”, “The Prisoner of the Caucasus”, “The Quickie” and “Bear's Kiss”.
